Dreams of the Dreamer
Everyone dreams. Whether you remember your dreams or not, you still dream. There are various kinds of dreams. There are the dreams we have when we sleep. They can be happy, scary, or simply weird. There are waking dreams which can feel like a daydream, but they are not. In a waking dream you are aware that you are sleeping but you are also conscious of being in a dreamlike state at the same time. This kind of dreaming is often deeply symbolic and sometimes prophetic. Then there are daydreams. They are the conscious dreams that, for many of us, as children, got us into a lot of trouble in school. Daydreams are an immensely powerful tool if you learn how to use them. Who knew that the one thing children love to do when they are bored is actually early training on how to manifest?
If you take a course or read a book on how to manifest, the one tool they refer to is the power of daydreaming. It has become such an effective tool that many successful athletes and businesspeople extensively use this as a means to create winning scenarios for themselves.
We are raised to believe that daydreams are a silly waste of time. When in fact, according to the mystics, daydreams are thoughts that the Universe listens to that help to create your future. Thoughts become things. Intent always follows a thought. These are the teachings of the mystics. There is even a spiritual law that dictates the power of thoughts. That law, as written in the Kybalion states, “As it is above, so it is below.”
Now every little thought you have doesn’t suddenly “create” an outcome. But if you take that one little thought and feed it with enough feeling and emotion then that often becomes the reality. You see, the universe listens to the emotional feeling behind the thought. That is what causes it to become manifest. It is the consistent feeling or emotion behind the thought (or dream) that is what creates the outcome.
This is one of the reasons that Vision Boards are so powerful. The dreamer collects pictures of tangible objectives, collects them all into one place. Their vision boards become a constant physical reminder of the emotional desire what they wish to manifest. They pour their hearts into the vision. They create an emotional landscape around what they are dreaming about. The Universe responds in kind, by making it happen.
We have all heard the expressions, “If you believe it to be true then it will probably happen.” Or “Be careful what you wish for.” That one always really bugged me. I never knew why until I learned about how the Universe responds to the emotions behind the wish. If you dream about winning the lottery but have a fear of how you will handle all that money, then you won’t win the lottery. Because you are in fact emotionally afraid of winning. The Universe responds to the ‘fear’ because it has the larger emotional charge to it. If you are always worried that something isn’t going to work out, isn’t it amazing how that is exactly what happens? Worry carries a very strong emotional charge. When you are always waiting for the other shoe to drop, how often are you not surprised when the shoe actually does drop. Why? Because when you feed the fear that something must go wrong. The Universe responds to that. The end result is that something does eventually go wrong.
The greatest gift God gave humankind was free will. As a result of that gift, the Universe, in turn must honour our free will. This means that it must follow what has been mandated by spiritual law, “As it is above, so it is below”, the Universe has to make manifest what we believe to be true.
The Universe responds to what we feel. We create our future based on what we are feeling. Our feelings are based on what we believe to be true. This is one of the reasons why the mystics constantly remind us that life is an illusion. What most people don’t understand is how absolutely powerful this can be to create the life you have always dreamed of. You can create a happy life, or you can create an unhappy life all based on what you believe.
Once you understand the power of choice anything is possible. All things are made of energy. There is no good or bad energy, only energy. If thoughts become things, then you can use your free will to change the illusion of your life as you see it. You don’t need to tell the Universe how to do it. You only need to decide what you really want out of life, build a daydream around it, live it, feel it as already being the truth and then stand back and allow the Universe to fill in the blanks. We are truly the masters of our own destiny. It is a beautiful thing.
